MUMBAI: Walt Disney Pictures' blockbuster hit Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is poised to have the biggest worldwide opening of all time, announced Walt Disney studios motion picture marketing and distribution president Mark Zoradi.

According to the announcement, the movie, opening in more screens (11,000-plus) and theaters (4,362), than any other film is expected to shatter the Memorial Day weekend record on Monday, eclipsing X-Men: The Last Stand's $122.9 million four-day start last year. This year the Memorial Day weekend in the US is 25 - 28 May.

At the international box office the film is on track to gross a record-setting $205.5 million through Sunday and has already become the Studio's 54th release to join the $100 million club.

Combined with the domestic total of $126.5 million and the international total of $ 205.5 million, the worldwide total as of Sunday had hit $332 million after five days, becoming the number one film not only in the US but across the world, said an official release.

The film still has two other markets to open - India on 1 June and China on 10 June. In India, the film is being released by Buena Vista International through SPE Films India. With a U/A rating and summer holidays on, the film is expected to do equally well here.
