| BANGALORE:
Radio Mirchi Bangalore (RMB) conducted the finals of their first ever RJ hunt
the Nokia RJ hunt, at a pub in Bangalore yesterday. The outdoor
event was marred by heavy rains and had to be moved indoors. Two people of the
five shortlisted from the second round Naveen and Pallavi - will join the
RMB Jockeys team. This RJ hunt is likely to be an annual event. The
judges for the final round during which the finalists had to undergo two tests
were judged by Radio Mirchi cluster business head-Karnataka & Kerala, Amit
Sathpathy, among others. Taking
a cue from the television reality shows, whenever and wherever the need for new
RJs arises, Radio Mirchi has carried on similar hunts across other cities,
some of which include Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, and now Bangalore.
Said
Amit, RJs are increasingly becoming role models for the youth and rightly
so, as a successful RJ is mix of talent with spontaneity.
RMB announced
their RJ hunt a month ago. Contestants between 18 and 28 years of age desiring
to participate in the first round could do so by either calling in to the Mirchi
studio, or by picking up the forms from a Café Coffee Day or a Nokia Priority
Dealer outlet. Twenty
two thousand people applied. A lot were eliminated in the first round. During
the second round, the participants were given voice-training. Their aptitude,
attitude and other attributes were studied and five finalists were shortlisted
from this group. The two selected RJs will be sent to Mumbai for further
training for the specific requirements that RMB has. The
other sponsors for the first RMB RJ hunt were Romanov cassettes and CDs and Hero
Honda Xtreme. RMB RJ Avinash and dance troupe Shadows provided the
entertainment during the event which later culminated in a party. Though RMB started
broadcasting in February 2006, the anniversary cake was cut yesterday after `the
winners of the Radio
Mirchi 98.3 FM has 12 operational radio stations in India and plan to start operations
