Disney to donate $3 million to Make-A-Wish Foundation from 'Pirates' world premiere

MUMBAI: The Walt Disney Company has announced that the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End will be held at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The proceeds generated from the event will be donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and Make-A-Wish International.

According to an official announcement, this gala celebration for the third edition of the Pirates saga will raise $3 million for Make-A-Wish efforts, through ticket sales. Disney will provide an initial donation in excess of $1 million to the charities, in addition to underwriting the entire cost of the premiere (so that 100 percent of the ticket income will benefit both Make-A-Wish organizations).

Apart from the movies hunks Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom to be present at the screening, this is the first time that the public has been invited to participate in a Pirates premiere, adds the release.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End will hit theatres in India on 1 June.
