Murugavel Janakiraman is IAMAI chairman

MUMBAI: The Governing Council of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has appointed Bharatmatrimony.com founder and CEO Murugavel Janakiraman (Muruga) as chairman of the association for the year 2007-08.

He takes over from People Group chairman Anupam Mittal. Dr Subho Ray would continue to be the president of the association.

IAMAI also announced the appointment of MSN and Windows Live country manager Jaspreet Bindra as the vice chairman of the association. Bindra takes over from baazee.com founder and currently Matrix Partners founding managing partner Avnish Bajaj. Times Internet director Upen Roop Rai is the new treasurer of the association, according to an official release.

 

Janakiraman said, "Building on the achievements of last year, we would like to focus on four areas a) making the association more broad based and representative; b) reaching out to government and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth growth of the industry c) training programme to encourage the younger generation to join this industry and d) encouraging and supporting new entrepreneurs."

 
Janakiraman, is also the founder of popular online brands such as Clickjobs.com, Indiaproperty.com, Indiaautomobile.com among others.

Bindra said, "Representing the fastest growing industry segments like Internet and Mobile value added services was a great challenge and IAMAI was well prepared to take up the challenge."
