Nickelodeon expands online games audience

MUMBAI: Nickelodeon MTVN Kids and Family Group's recently acquired digital brands, Shockwave.com and AddictingGames, are in the process of expanding the sites’ integrated advertising opportunities.

New promotions will take place by associating with Nissan and HP.

Video ad click through rates on the sites have exceeded 10 per cent on average, far higher than industry standards. Average game session times are 10 minutes on Shockwave, so advertisers who sponsor the games can create an unprecedented brand experience.

New advertising integration deals for Mother's Day (running through 15th MAY) include a Smilebox photo sponsorship with Nissan Quest. Shockwave is also delivering HP's user generated photo upload program on the most popular area of the site. Users are prompted to submit a Mother's Day themed photo to the site that could be featured as the actual "Daily Jigsaw" game for Mother's Day.

Additionally, Dave Williams, newly named to the senior vice president across both brands, announced plans to continue the sites' momentum with the addition of new game uploading features on AddictingGames.

With an explosion of user participation in online gaming and attracting more than 20 million unique users per month, both the sites have exhibited double digit growth month to month, since January.

AddictingGames' growth has been driven by more than 50 new game submissions per week, representing content from more than 1,000 young game creators. Top games on Shockwave have been runaway hits with gaming audiences including kids, teens and the rapidly expanding female gaming audience.

“The two websites have been tremendous growth vehicles for the Nickelodeon MTVN Kids and Family Group gaming umbrella,” said Steve Youngwood, executive vice president, Digital Media, Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group. “Dave will continue the momentum for each brand and lead them to the next level with the addition of new features to drive traffic, and new opportunities to platform our advertisers.”

Said Williams, “Both sites have such huge potential, and new opportunities with Nickelodeon MTVN Kids and Family Group make it possible to do so much more than when we were an independent company.”
