NEW DELHI: Eminent filmmaker Mehboob Khan, who had been one
of the founders of the Film and Television Producers Guild
of India and continued to be a member till his death, is to
be honoured by the Indian Postal Department through the release
of a commemorative stamp.
The function will be held in Mumbai to commemorate his monumental
work for Indian cinema tomorrow.
Mehboob Khan was a filmmaker who produced memorable films such
as Oscar nominee 'Mother India', 'Aurat', 'Andaz', 'Aan' etc.
He was President of the Guild from 1958 to 1963. He joins an
illustrious company of legendary Guild members such as Dr V.
Shantaram (founder member), Bimal Roy and L V Prasad who were
also honoured posthumously by the Indian Postal Department.
Established in 1954 by the stalwarts of the Indian film industry,
the Guild boasts of several hundred members today. |
