Fisher-Price launches Kid-Tough digital camera in India

MUMBAI: Infant and Pre-School specific brand from the Mattel stable, Fisher-Price has launched a digital camera with a durable drop-resistant design for preschoolers called Kid-Tough digital camera in India.

In a tie up with Viacom's kid's channel Nick in India, Fisher-Price will use the channel to give visibility to its latest offering with a contest that will kick off on 16 April.

The Kid-Tough Digital Camera is designed to be preschool appropriate that is tough enough to last after every fall. It's a real digital camera with a durable drop-resistant design and the tough rubberized outer shell protects the camera and screen from being dropped, crashed and knocked around.

The camera includes a 1.3" backlit color LCD preview screen that allows kids to instantly see the picture they have taken. The controls are simple for kids to understand and the big buttons make it easy for little hands to use -The back and front buttons help them to view their previously taken shots and the delete button effortlessly deletes shots that unworthy. The camera features dual handle grips, two-eye viewing and Auto Flash, states an official release.

Additional Features include 640 x 480 resolution for quality 4 x 6 prints, 8 MB built-in memory for more than 60 pictures, SD card slot for increased storage capacity, easy navigation, USB cord to connect to the computer for downloading, printing and editing capabilities, CD of digital camera software and wrist strap.

Mattel India managing director Sanjay Luthra says, "Providing tiny tots with real electronics is not a new venture for Fisher-Price. Fisher-Price has been enhancing toys with electronics since 1979, starting with the Fisher-Price Phonograph. In 1981 the Tape Recorder was introduced and in 1984 came Fisher-Price's first real Camera. Fisher-Price products are ground in consumer need and demand. The Kid-Tough Digital Camera is a natural evolution of the camera in the preschool electronics category. The durability and ease of use is what sets the Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera apart from the rest. "

The product has been priced at Rs. 4,999 however, whats left to be seen is whether the camera will receive a favourable response from the Indian market.

But it claims to have garnered a good response globally and has won 10 awards, including the Electronic Toy of the Year' award.
