MUMBAI: Mattel's flagship property Barbie will celebrate
her 48th Birthday on 9 March and the toy manufacturer
has decided to get kids involved by allowing them to
SMS on 6767222 to wish her and also get a reply from
her as well.
The
inspiration for the Barbie doll came to Mattel's co-founder
Ruth Handler in the 1950s as she watched her young
daughter, Barbara, (from whom Barbie got her name),
playing with paper dolls, states an official release.
In
1959, Barbie was introduced as a teenage fashion model.
Since then, Barbie has been an aspirational toy in
terms of fashion, entertainment and teenage lifestyle
trends with girls across the world.
