MUMBAI: Web video service TinselVision (TV) and Zee TV USA have announced a strategic content and distribution alliance to deliver Zee content globally via Tinsel's web video service.

Through the terms of this agreement, TinselVision has obtained rights to distribute via its platform archival and new production content ranging from Bollywood movie titles to contemporary Indian soaps, reality television and game shows.

The agreement comes in the wake of TinselVision's announcement of having received its first round of funding to the tune of $3 million from Geneva-based venture fund Innovative Entertainment Limited.

TinselVision has also assembled its board of directors and advisors which include people from the television, film, distribution, finance and production fraternity.

"When you combine deep pockets with broad experience and relationships in the right place at the right time, you have good reason to be excited," said Tinsel Cinema chairman and CEO Chase Weir.

"We have a $1 billion plus, un-served and underserved, addressable market. Now, we have premium content licenses in place. And, we have and continue to attract the talent who's been here and done this before. This confluence of resources and timing offers our stakeholders a growing confidence which underpins our excitement, and good reasons for positive expectations in the marketplace," he said.

About the agreement with Zee TV USA, he said, "We are pleased and honored to sign Zee TV as a key content licensor. We are very encouraged by their decision to invest in our vision and welcome them among our trusted partners."

TinselVision is a trademarked service of Tinsel Cinema LLC, a Washington based broadband internet, video-on-demand (VoD) service targeting South Asian communities in the US, UK and Canada.
