Sony launches HD video conferencing in India

MUMBAI/ BANGALORE: Sony has introduced a high definition (HD) videoconferencing system, the PCS-HG90 which is the latest addition to Sony's Ipela range of IP-based products. It was showcased at the High Definition Visual Communication Shows that were held in Bangalore on the 15 June.

 

Key features in the PCS-HG90 are true color reproduction, real detail, full size in real-time. The savings is not only in cost but optimum utilization of time. According to estimates, the IPELA PCS-HG90 marks the first time that the HD video compression format of 1280 x 720 at 60P and a maximum video transfer rate of 8Mb/s have been achieved over an IP network. Equipped with a 3CCD camera, part of Sony's complete range of professional-grade HD solutions, the package is
able to deliver and demonstrate life-like images on large-screen HD displays and projections.

The PCS-HG90 can also accept the HD video compression formats of 1080 x 50/60i from professional cameras. The PCS-HG90 features clear and natural-sounding audio, frequency range up to 22 kHz using MPEG-4AAC and with AUX audio inputs supports up to 44 kHz.

 

Sony India broadcast and professional products division marketing head Ambareesh Dixit said, "HD presents an exciting opportunity for today's leading organisations to enhance their videoconference experience with the clarity of ideas exchanged."

To address this issue, the PCS-HG90 adopts a new intelligent QoS (Quality of Service) feature, FEC, ARQ and ARC, and is able to realize a remarkable reduction of the video artefact regardless of the transmission distance. It also accepts analog or digital video signals, from SD to HD, as well as PC signals.
