Gill Pritchard to head BBC Worldwide's home entertertainment division for children

MUMBAI: BBC Worldwide has announced that Gill Pritchard will be joining the home entertainment business as director of the children’s section.

BBC Worldwide’s Home Entertainment business last year had sales of £186 million and profits of £24.4 million. The business includes children’s audio and music that combines the audiobooks and music publishing and licensing team; a partnership with Woolworths, 2 entertain, for DVD publishing plus partnerships with Random Houses’ Ebury imprint for BBC Books and Pearson for learning joint venture, BBC Active.

BBC Worldwide Home Entertainment MD Chris Weller said, “Gill will be a brilliant asset to her business bringing both a dynamic energy and incisive mind to the Children’s portfolio. Her skills and experience in strategy and business combined with her creative spark will add real weight to the team as we develop major growth plans for this business around the world.”

Pritchard said, “This is the most fantastic time to grow our Children’s business and create new opportunities for our content and brands all over the world. Digital will be a major part of this growth and I am really excited to be working with such innovative products and partners.”

Prior to this role Gill has spent the last year as business development director in charge of developing and building the commercial media player that BBC Worldwide plans to launch later this year. She was previously head of strategy at BBC Worldwide and also spent a year at the BBC as financial and commercial strategy manager.
