Sony picks up global DVD distribution rights for Nick movies

MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group (SPWAG) has picked up DVD distribution rights for six Nickelodeon movies. It got these rights from Dolphin Entertainment.

The package includes the upcoming Roxy Hunter franchise. The films will premiere on Nickelodeon and will be distributed on DVD by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

The first two films of this six-picture deal are Shredderman Rules!, starring Devon Werkheiser, Tim Meadows and Dave Coulier, which premiered on Nickelodeon on 9 June and Last Day of Summer, starring Jansen Pannetierre and Eli Vargas which premiered earlier this month. DVD releases for both titles are scheduled for 28 August.

In addition, the first installment of the Roxy Hunter franchise, Roxy Hunter and the Mystery of the Moody Ghost starring Aria Wallace will debut on Nickelodeon later this year and arrive on DVD shortly after the on-air premiere. The second movie, Roxy Hunter and the Secret of the Shaman arrives on DVD next year.
