Balaji Telefilms Q1 net up 6% at Rs 184 million

MUMBAI: Balaji Telefilms has posted a net profit of Rs 184.403 million for the first quarter of the fiscal ended 30 June 2007, up 6.12 per cent from Rs 173.77 million a year ago.

Income from operations was just 1.35 per cent higher at Rs 745.32 million. Cmmissioned programming accounted for Rs.685.22 million, while Rs 59.85 million came from sponsored programming.

Operating profit stood at Rs 295.02 million, jumping 13.31 per cent from the year-ago period.

Balaji's average realisation per hour increased from Rs 1.74 million in FY'07 to Rs 2.15 million in the first quarter of FY' 08. Realisation per hour from commissioned programming increased from Rs.2.76 million to Rs 3.35 million during this period.

The company has invested Rs 286.39 million in production and post-production equipments and studios. As on 30 June 2007, Balaji's investments were at Rs 1.83 billion.
