MUMBAI: Animal Planet is all set to launch a new series, Planet Wild, showcasing the planet's most enigmatic creatures starting 31 December at 8 pm.

This 13 episode series will delve into the lesser-known lives of animals and will reveal the intricate portraits with a difference as they struggle to survive, to find mates, utilise their diverse habitats and interact with their neighbours.

Planet Wild will have animals from the Marmot clans on the plains of Kazakhstan to the territorial Humming birds of South America and from millions of Flamingos on the soda lakes of Africa to Koalas trying to ensure the next generation survives.

A joint venture between Discovery Communications and BBC Worldwide, Animal Planet launched in India in 1998 and claims a reach of 24 million subscribers in the region.
