MipTV will be held in Cannes from 7 to 11 April 2008.

Japan Day at MipTV, Monday, 7 April, will celebrate the best of what the media and entertainment industry in Japan has to offer through conference sessions focusing on the Japanese animation and format export markets; digital media expert speakers throughout the week and an opening cocktail party focusing on Japanese programmes and genres like Animé.

"We are proud to highlight Japan at the 45th MipTV," says Paul Johnson, director of the television division. "Japan has always played an important role at our markets and more importantly is a key player in the global entertainment industry particularly in digital delivery. The Japanese have also been some of our most loyal clients with their attendance at MipTV dating back over 40 years."

In 2012 the country will be the second-largest market for mobile television services behind the United States and ahead of Italy. Furthermore, nearly 60 per cent of animation produced in the world has a made in Japan sticker on it. The latest trends coming out of Japan is their increased global presence in exploiting their format rights and investing in local productions outside of Japan.
