MUMBAI: Essel Group's DTH service dishtv has launched an edutainment service called Minikids TV. To this end, dishtv has tied up with gaming service providers Visiware.

Minikids TV is a fun games service for pre-schoolers where the games are navigated by special animated characters.

The four games on Minikids TV are designed to develop creativity, observation, audio skills and visual memory of kids. Minikids TV will be available on channel 90 on dishtv, and the games will be refreshed every month.

Currently, dishtv offers games for all age groups through its gaming portal Playjam. Through Playjam, dishtv offers eight games.

dishtv CEO Arun Kumar Kapoor said, "We are adding education to our gaming offering. The games are interactive and help hone the various skills that are very important for the overall development of a kid's personality. These games will arm even toddlers and pre-schoolers to prepare for today's hugely competitive scenario."

Visiware marketing director Frederic Fellague said, "Minikids TV is already available on Bell Express Vu in Canada, SKY TV in New Zealand and even StarHub in Singapore. We are very proud to launch it now in India with dishtv. This is a time when kids form a high growth market and kids products are a force to reckon with."
