MUMBAI: Verizon Wireless customers in metropolitan Detroit can now watch television on select TV-enabled handsets, the company said in a release.

Verizon has launched V CAST Mobile TV, which offers customers in parts of southeastern Michigan, broadcast-quality picture and sound from the cable television, including live shows and other mobile television content 24 hours a day.

With V CAST Mobile TV on their Verizon Wireless phones, customers can catch sporting events, breaking news and their TV shows on networks including CBS Mobile, Comedy Central, ESPN Mobile TV, Fox Mobile, MTV, NBC 2GO, NBC News2GO, and Nickelodeon.

The service also comes with parental control features. Parents, thus, will be able to monitor and restrict the programmes their children view.

"Our customers can now take advantage of downtime and catch up on favourite shows. V CAST Mobile TV is unlike any other mobile television service available right now. It's like watching TV at home with a range of channels from which to choose", said Verizon Wireless president Michigan/Indiana/ Kentucky region, Greg Haller.

V CAST Mobile TV from Verizon Wireless is powered on the FLO TV service from MediaFLO USA Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc.
