Pogo announces winners of Amazing Kids Awards

MUMBAI: The fourth Pogo Amazing Kids Awards for the year 2007 has honoured 8 kids among 24 finalists.

The event was held in Mumbai on Friday and the awardees were chosen through a voting poll with kids' across the nation.

Aamir Khan as a host marked his first presence in any Pogo award function. Pogo's hosts Niall, Chinu and Rob, along with Darsheel, the lead child star in the film Taare Zameen Par, also co hosted the Amazing Kids Awards with Khan.

Pogo had an environment friendly theme Go Green for the awards this year, in association with Project Green Hands.

Pogo has promoted Kalpavrishka a tree planting drive with all 24 nominees becoming its brand ambassadors for spreading the message within their schools.

The concept of Go Green and ecological sensitivity was woven into each and every element of the set. Celebrities A R Rahman, Johnny Lever, Amrita Arora, Urmila Matondkar, Chak De girls, Diya Mirza also joined in and gave environment friendly messages.

Speaking on the occasion, Turner International India's VP, advertising sales and networks, India & South Asia Monica Tata said, "we are proud to recognise the unheralded and the ones who accomplish great things at such a young age."

Khan said, "I believe in the power of kids and their ability to overcome any adversity - all they need is love and encouragement."

The winner of the Pogo Amazing Kid in artist category is 13- year-old Akash Suri from Delhi. Award in the sports category went to 14-year-old Surabhi Tipre from Mumbai.

In music category, Mumbai's 13-year-old Raj Pandit grabbed the prize while in Parle G genius category 14-year-old Shailendra Verma from Lucknow was anointed winner.

In leadership category, Bunty Kumar, 14, from Jaipur became the best leader. Arpan Mukherjee from Kolkata got the singing category award. The winner of the dance category is 10-year-old Pranati Goturi from Hyderabad and winner of the Big Babool entertainment is 8-year-old Swini Khare from Mumbai.

Pogo Voice Awards, where children vote for their favourite celebrity icons, was also announced the same night.

The title of Pogo Most Amazing Bollywood Star was won by Hrithik Roshan. Yuvraj Singh becomes Pogo's Most Amazing Sports Hero. The Pogo Most Amazing Song was awarded to Darde Disco and Pogo Most Amazing Film was awarded to Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni emerged victorious in the category of Pogo Most Amazing Kids Icon and Dragon Ball Z in the category Pogo Most Amazing Kids Programme.

Pogo will telecast the award ceremony on 29 December at 6 pm.
