Mattel India joins hands with Special Olympics for zonal rounds

MUMBAI: Mattel Toys has partnered with Special Olympics Maharashtra to offer an opportunity for participants above eight years old at the zonal rounds of the Special Olympics which was held at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai.

The top three teams across age-groups in the Volley Ball and Hand Ball category at the zonal rounds were selected to represent Maharastra at the grand National level of the Special Olympics, states an official release.

Mattel Toys (India) MD Sanjay Luthra says, "This is a unique initiative where all the employees of Mattel Toys (India) came together and volunteered to make this event a runaway success. We hope that these special kids make us proud and get the trophy home!"

Mattel International, toy manufacturer, has been actively involved in Special Olympics since 2005 and now Mattel Toys (India) has also joined the bandwagon. Mattel Toys (India), a 100 per cent subsidiary of Mattel International is the sponsor of the event as well as a volunteer throughout the two day zonal games.

Special Olympics around the globe is held annually and is dedicated to empowering people with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and athletic competition. Established in the year 1968, Special Olympics includes sports like Football, Judo, Power Lifting, Badminton, Basketball and many more.
