MUMBAI:
Maya Media is gearing up to cash in on the TV boom. A newly
floated division of Maya Movies, it has appointed Rishi Bhojnagarwala
as creative head. He moves in from Essel Group's Digital Media
Convergence Ltd (DMCL).
Heading
Maya Media will be Deepa Sahi while Ketan Mehta will be involved
on an advisory level. Says Sahi, "We have produced several
shows for television before under Maya Movies but now we have
set up a division specially for television content. The television
sector is hotting up with a slew of new channels coming up.
Using a dedicated division, we hope to do more high-end work
in both fiction and non-fiction for them."
Maya
Media is in the process of conceptualising and pitching ideas
to channels in genres like travel and lifestyle, action thrillers
and food related shows.
Maya
Movies has earlier made shows for Zee Network like Margarita,
Chota Muh aur Badi Baat, X-Zone, Pradhan Mantri, Time Bomb,
Sahara One's Chacha Chaudhary, Sony's HuBahu.
It has also made programmes for Doordarshan.
Maya
Movies has a stake in Maya Entertainment, a computer animation
and digital visual effects studio which has investments from
Intel Pacific and Enam Financial securities. Maya Entertainment
currently runs Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC),
a training institute for computer animation.
