MUMBAI: Maya Media is gearing up to cash in on the TV boom. A newly floated division of Maya Movies, it has appointed Rishi Bhojnagarwala as creative head. He moves in from Essel Group's Digital Media Convergence Ltd (DMCL).

Heading Maya Media will be Deepa Sahi while Ketan Mehta will be involved on an advisory level. Says Sahi, "We have produced several shows for television before under Maya Movies but now we have set up a division specially for television content. The television sector is hotting up with a slew of new channels coming up. Using a dedicated division, we hope to do more high-end work in both fiction and non-fiction for them."

Maya Media is in the process of conceptualising and pitching ideas to channels in genres like travel and lifestyle, action thrillers and food related shows.

Maya Movies has earlier made shows for Zee Network like Margarita, Chota Muh aur Badi Baat, X-Zone, Pradhan Mantri, Time Bomb, Sahara One's Chacha Chaudhary, Sony's HuBahu. It has also made programmes for Doordarshan.

Maya Movies has a stake in Maya Entertainment, a computer animation and digital visual effects studio which has investments from Intel Pacific and Enam Financial securities. Maya Entertainment currently runs Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), a training institute for computer animation.
