MUMBAI: Close on the heels of its premiere on cable
television in the US, Disney Channel's original movie
High School Musical 2 soundtrack has debuted
at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album charts, based
on sales of 615,000 copies.
This
is the second highest one-week total for an album this
year. In its first week, it also certified gold in Ireland,
the UK, Canada, Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia.
The
Disney Music Group is also celebrating as three of its
titles are in the Top Ten charts today. Apart from the
High School Musical 2 soundtrack soaring to No
.1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts for the week ending
1 September, Hannah Montana 2 / Meet Miley Cyrus
(Walt Disney Records/Hollywood Records) moved in
at No 2, and Jonas Brothers (Hollywood Records)
self titled album at No. 8.
