MUMBAI: Golf's PGA Tour has announced a new look for its web site in celebration of the first-ever PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup.

Pgatour.com’s playoff coverage features additional content features in support of the Playoffs, a Playoff-themed fantasy game with a grand prize of a trip to Hawaii to play in a PGA Tour Pro Am, and its popular Live@ video coverage for each of the four Playoff tournaments.

Pgatour.com’s Playoff redesign will capture the excitement of the inaugural PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Redesign features include a bold new look and feel, expanded video player to better present exclusive video coverage, and new editorial features. Produced in conjunction with PGATOUR.com’s partner, Turner Sports New Media, the redesign is a preview of a broader site redesign launching in early 2008.

PGAtour.com’s Popular Live@ Video Coverage
Live@, PGAtour.com’s popular live tournament coverage franchise, will cover all four rounds of all four Playoff events with originally produced tournament competition. Available for free on the site Live@ coverage provides fans streaming shot-by-shot video of signature holes during the Playoffs tournaments.

The Live player will also host a customisable leaderboard and scorecard view in which fans can select any five of their favorite players to track even when they are not playing the featured Live@ hole. The Tour’s Live@ Series has been a fan favorite since it launched in 2000; the eight previous 2007 live events have cumulatively drawn over six million streams, with viewers spending an average of more than 30 minutes per stream.

In addition to the exclusive live leaderboard and ShotLink statistics the site will feature current and projected FedExCup point standings during tournament play. Found live only on the site, the points standings will show the race for the FedExCup in real-time based on projected tournament finish. The site will also feature expanded editorial coverage and analysis, including extended inside the ropes competition video, interviews from the course, and comprehensive editorial features such as Friday Cut analysis to determine who will be playing during the weekend, and “Elimination Sunday” to break down the players who are no longer eligible to compete for the FedExCup.

The Playoff Challenge is a brand new, free and easy to play fantasy golf game. Sponsored by MasterCard, this four-week competition challenges users to choose four players at the start of the Playoffs. Fans will be able to follow their team live throughout the Playoffs on the site. The fan whose team accumulates the most Playoff points over the four events wins a grand prize of a trip to the 2008 Sony Open in Hawaii and a spot in the tournament’s official Pro-Am.

PGA Tour senior VP new media Paul Johnson says, “PGATour.com is the number one web site in golf, and there will be no better place for fans to keep informed during the Playoffs, including insider coverage and analysis, key stories, eliminations, points movers and more.

“Every single shot matters in the Playoffs, and PGATour.com will be there for our fans every step towards crowning the inaugural PGA TOUR FedExCup Champion.”
