Jetix to promote junior tennis program 'Good Earth Super Series'

BANGALORE: Havas Sports India (HSI) and Avesta Good Earth Foods (Good Earth) have launched the ‘Good Earth Super series’ 2007, a nationwide junior tennis development program in association with the All India Tennis Association (AITA).

The Super series will be a five city, six tournament event this year which it plans to expand to a 13 tournament event next year. The series will span Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai.

Disney India's televsion channel Jetix will provide the media support both on air and on ground through the duration of the Super series.

Explaining the channels involvement, Walt Disney Company (India) head corporate communications K Seshasaye said, “Jetix continues to fulfill the entertainment needs of the action adventure seeking kids across India. Being a brand in the kids and family space is one of immense responsibility. While entertaining kids and their families indoors, we continue encourage kids to play outdoor activities as well.”

According to Seshasaye the channel will gain visibility by way of branding for the events as the event will also be promoted on Disney Channel and Hungama TV.

According to HSI, business director Arjun Rao, the total cost of the event would be around Rs 15 million, of which Good Earth is a major contributor. Rao is in discussion with channels for packaging and broadcast of the matches. According to industry sources the Zee group is one of the channels that HSI is holding discussions with.

Tennis legend Vijay Amritraj was also present at the announcement. “I am delighted that a health food company such as Avesta Good Earth Foods has taken such a strong initiative in supporting health and fitness in this country through the sport of tennis,” added Amritraj.
