MUMBAI:
A month long celebration of comedy in Indian cinema finally
culminated at a grand finale as Star Gold Comedy Honors, a
tribute to comic excellence in Indian cinema at the Mehboob
studios in Mumbai. Star Gold comedy honors were bestowed on
some of the all time favourite stars with comic excellence
which were as follows
Leading
actor with comic excellence: Govinda
Performer
with comic excellence: Rajpal Yadav
Rising
actor with comic excellence: Tusshar Kapoor
Director
with comic excellence: David Dhawan
Lifetime
achievement in comic excellence: Jagdeep
Special
recognition in comic excellence: Juhi Chawla
Hrishikesh
Mukherjee award for a socially relevant comedy cinema: Lage
raho Munnabhai.
The
special advisory panel judging the initiative consisted of Kundan
Shah, Vashu Bhagnani and Nagesh Kukunoor. The Star Gold Comedy
Honors 2007 was hosted by Shreyash Talpade along with Purbi
Joshi. The evening saw an electrifying performances by Govinda,
Neha Dhupia and Shabbir Ahluwalia, some hilarious acts by Rimi
Sen alomg with the duo Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey and a
stand up act by Sajid Khan.
Speaking
at the event, Star India president content and new media Ajay
Vidyasagar said, "India has produced some of the biggest
telents with comic excellence. Comedy has always been a vital
part of the film industry and we feel that its high time it
was given its due. It is with this objective that the Star
Network conceptualized its annual property Star Gold Comedy
Honors. We are happy to honor the legends and the upcoming
talent of comedy in Bollywood."
The
star presence also included Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Anupam
Kher, Ayesha Takia and many more.
