MUMBAI: Hungama TV which joined the Disney bandwagon from the UTV stable on 12 December, is looking to ramp up activity on the channel after a lull period during the first quarter of the year from January to March.

To kick off on a big start, the channel will launch a 'fantasy adventure' live action local series about an outlaw on 3 June. In this respect, the Captains presented their views on the character acceptance, look and feel of the show after reviewing the pilot episode. Thus the Hungama TV Captains are playing a significant role is crafting the story plot for this show by garnering views across the specific age groups in their respective cities.

The reason for this the channels lack of activity, Hungama TV head of programming and production Aparna Bhosle opines that after the high activity witnessed with John Aur Kaun, the first three months of the year saw a large number of repeat telecasts as there the new launches for shows were stalled.

For most acquired shows from Japan, the content providers needed clarity on the transformation of the channel following the Disney buyout. But now the channel has passed that teething phase of new ownership and is set to go the whole hog with fresh shows and activities.

For this, the young board of directors for the channel were huddled together to analysis from the first quarter and chart out the agenda that would provide the momentum for the coming months.

With reference to the new season programming, the captains suggested that the live action series- Hero, could receive better reviews if it focused more on the 'fun' factor' which will enforce the element of reality. The monthly updates provided by the Captains were recently incorporated in the summer programming package. The captains have been instrumental in deciding the prizes for the 'Pyjama Pakdo' contests on the channel this summer. As an ongoing process, the Captains keep the Hungama TV abreast with the distribution aspect of the channel in their cities.

The meeting also saw these young achievers present their feedback to the heads of the departments of Hungama TV. The presentation included inputs on the Hungama TV's marketing initiatives for the summer promotions as well as suggestions on new programming content for the channel. The Captains made a presentation on varied topics such as 'Technology adaptability', 'Kids as opinion leaders in purchase decisions', 'Dreams and ambitions', 'Gender preferences towards media and entertainment and 'Life without television'.

Bhosle added, "At the heart of everything we do at Hungama TV is the voice of the captains," said Aparna Bhosle, Head - Programming and Production, Hungama TV. "We have grown to accept that they can steer the channel to stay ahead. From making changes in our programming, distribution and marketing strategies to flagging off Hungamathon across cities, they are doing it all!"
