Starring
Mickey Mouse, the song-filled Playhouse Disney series
combines the Disney tradition of storytelling with
contemporary CG animation and encourages interactivity
to promote a child's cognitive, social and creative
learning. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is the first
television series starring Mickey in CGI and although
the animation is contemporary, the series' designs
are referential to classic character drawings of the
1940s.
Set
in Mickey's colourful clubhouse environment, the stories,
each built around a "theme of the day,"
include Mickey speaking directly to preschool age
viewers, posing questions and inviting them to "help"
solve practical problems such as what to do when Goofy's
bouncy ball is out of control, or when Donald has
turned into a frog and needs a kiss from Princess
Daisy to return him to his natural state.
To reach the story's goal, Mickey cheers viewers on
as they help identify shapes, patterns and numbers
and decipher picture puzzles among other early math
curriculum. Mouseketools, gear that helps Mickey advance
the story, and Toodles, a device that organizes and
reinforces the episode's learning, are included in
the stories.
