The latest figures, which only account for digital satellite viewers
and do not incorporate Freeview viewers, reveal that 2,647,000 viewers
pressed red to enjoy the BBC's interactive Wimbledon service during
the first four days of the tournament.
During the same period last year just under two million viewers
had done so. Wimbledon interactive enables viewers to choose which
tennis matches they want to watch by pressing the red button on
their digital remote control.
As well as matches on BBC One and BBC Two viewers with digital
satellite and digital cable have a choice of up to five additional
games. Viewers can also catch up with the latest news, scores and
result from Wimbledon via the interactive service.
