NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Nirupam is scheduled to meet information and broadcasting minister Ravi Shankar Prasad at 3 pm today.

The meeting will discuss CAS related issues which may ultimately decide the fate of the rollout of conditional access in Mumbai from 1 September.

The Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray had expressed his objections to CAS last month and had said that his party would oppose the implementation of CAS in the city, till Prasad met him during a visit to the city and claimed to have resolved Thackeray's objections.

While CAS rollout in Delhi has already been deferred thanks to political pressures exerted by the forthcoming elections, that in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata has also become uncertain. Prasad had said earlier this week that the government would speak to the Sena chief and try to convince him about the timely rollout and the resultant benefits that would accrue to cable consumers.

Stay tuned for further details.
