received the second highest wins of six awards each, only an
award away from The Opening Ceremony Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter
Games which received seven. Meanwhile, Sex And The City received
three awards and the HBO movie that received the most limelight
was The Gathering Storm that won three.
Band Of Brothers, the HBO miniseries that was executive-produced
by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg to honour the men of Easy Company
and their heroic deeds during World War II, received 19 nominations,
and won six awards for Outstanding Miniseries, Outstanding Directing
for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special, Outstanding Single-Camera
Picture Editing For a Miniseries, Movie or Special, Outstanding
Sound Editing For A Miniseries, Movie or Special, Outstanding Single-Camera
Sound Mixing For a Miniseries or Movie, and Outstanding Casting
For a Miniseries, Movie or Special.
Six Feet Under which topped HBO’s list of nominees with
23 nominations, the most nominations of any show on TV this season,
and the most in a single season for any HBO show ever, won six Emmys
for Outstanding Directing For a Drama Series, Outstanding Guest
Actress in a Drama Series - Patricia Clarkson, Outstanding Casting
For a Drama Series, Outstanding Makeup For a Series (Prosthetic),
Outstanding Main Title Theme Music and Outstanding Main Title Design.
Sex And The City, the popular comedy series featuring the
fabulous four, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia
Nixon and Kristin Davis in their search for their Mr. Rights in
New York, received 10 nominations and won three Emmys for Outstanding
Directing For a Comedy Series, Outstanding Casting For a Comedy
Series and Outstanding Costumes For a Series.
The Gathering Storm, an HBO movie that offers an insight
into the marriage of Winston and Clementine Churchill during a particularly
troubled, though little-known moment in their lives, received nine
nominations and won three Emmys for Outstanding Made for Television
Movie, Outstanding Writing For A Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special
and Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries or Movie.
In Memoriam: New York City, 9/11/01, received an Emmy for
Outstanding Picture Editing for Non-Fiction Programming.
