MUMBAI: Delhi-based PVR plans to produce and
release four movies while adding 40-50 screens
in the next financial year.
"We
are building up a pipeline and it is difficult
to comment on what could be the possible release
dates that we may end up in. But based on the
content that we have right now, we should be
looking at releasing about four films next year,"
says a source in PVR.
The
company is also considering opening multiplexes
in the overseas market. "Our focus really
is to kind of build a great exhibition business
in India.
"Opportunities
in India are quite significant right now. But
we are looking at opportunities overseas. We
havent found anything very interesting
right now," the source adds.
PVR
is anticipating liscensing delays for its Mumbai
properties, and as of now, is looking at an
opening during the first quarter of the next
financial year.
Currently,
PVR is operational 95 screens.
The
company plans to put up properties in the lucrative
south India market in the next 9 to 12 months.
"We
should be having another complex of 11 screens
in the next 12 months in Bangalore itself in
a very very prime development," the source
added.
Another
property is coming up in Chennai in next six
months which should be another six screens.
"Beyond
that, we have signed long term association contracts
with a prestige group which will be giving us
presence across all the prime cities in the
southern belt," the source says.
