MUMBAI: NDTV Lumière, an initiative to bring contemporary world cinema to India, is all set to present Retour de Flamme, a cinema-concert, where a collector of ancient movies Serge Bromberg displays the films that he has found and restored over a period through musical performance.

Conceived and initiated by Anna Doshi and Bromberg, the show will be held in Mumbai (9 February), Kolkata (12 February) and Delhi (14 February).

Since the year 2008 is "Focus India" for International Animation Film Festival of Annecy, Bromberg who is the director of the festival, will focus his show on the early years of the film animation.

Referred as "pure magic offered by a mad lover of old print," the Retour de Flamme cine-concert takes place twice a year in Paris.

Bromberg has been presenting and playing piano accompaniment at the Retour de Flamme since 1992, reflecting a desire to share his passion for classic film with a wide audience.

Commenting on their association with Retour De Flamme, NDTV Lumière director Sunil Doshi said, "NDTV Lumière is an endeavour to bring the contemporary world cinema to audiences all across India. Our association with Retour de Flamme is one such initiative to bridge this long-existing need of film enthusiasts here."

Over the years, Lobster Films, owned by Serge Bromberg and Eric Lange, has been involved in the preservation, restoration and distribution of classic cinema in all its forms since 1985. Their work was recognised and awarded with the Prix Jean Mitry in 1997 and was presented at the Giornate del Cinema Muto in Italy. Bromberg was made Chevalier des Arts et Lettres in 2002.

For Retour De Flamme, NDTV Lumière has partnered with Thomson Foundation, a non-profit organisation which is involved in the restoration of films and heritage in India.
