MUMBAI: The nominations for the 80th edition
of the Oscar Awards will be announced tomorrow
22 January 2008.
Nine
films are competing for the five spots for foreign
film. India's Eklavya failed to make
the cut.
The contenders include Brazil's The Year
My Parents Went on Vacation, Canada's Days
of Darkness and Israel's Beaufort.
No Asian film is present.
More
important, however, is the question whether
the show, which is scheduled for next month,
will really take place or not. The telecast
of the Golden Globes was cancelled this month
on account of the Writers Guild of America (WGA)
strike.
