MUMBAI:
Following two National Awards for best costume
and art direction, Taj Mahal-An Eternal Love
Story centring around Emperor Shah Jahan
and Mumtaz Mahal has created history.
It
is the first and only film to get a world premiere,
more than a year after its Indian release.
Filmmaker Akbar Khan showcased a re-edited,
shortened version of his last release Taj
Mahal-An Eternal Love Story at the on-going
Dubai International Film Festival.
Taj Mahal had been included in the festival
as a ''Historical Spectacular Classic'' in the
Director's Cut section. The screening of the
film on 11 December received a standing ovation,
which has inspired Akbar Khan to gears for an
Indian re-release. Made at an estimated mammoth
budget of Rs 700 million, Taj Mahal recreates
the Mughal era through opulent sets, royal costumes
and jewellery.
Speaking
to Indiantelevision.com from Dubai, an elated
Mr Khan said, "The overwhelming reaction
and excellent press reviews have spurred me
to plan a re-release. I shall be re-releasing
the film in mid-February. This shall coincide
with the Taj Mahal commemoration event in Agra."
For
all those who didnt watch the magnum opus,
Khan gives you yet another chance.
